Sales/Transfers
| Q. |
Can Ontario Savings Bonds be sold? If so, how?
|
| A. |
Yes. OSBs can be sold through an investment dealer at their current market price. In order to do so, an
account with that investment dealer must first be established and a commission for the investment dealer
may apply.
OSBs can also be sold to other individuals. Once the terms of the transaction have been agreed upon,
a Transfer Form must be competed.
For OSBs issued prior to 2005,
bondholders must sign the transfer form on the back of the Bond. The Transfer form must be signed by
the registered owner exactly as it appears on the face of the OSB certificate (if there is more
than one bondholder, each bondholder must sign), with a Signature Guarantee stamp affixed by a
Canadian chartered bank, trust company, credit union, caisses populaires, or investment dealer,
satisfactory to the Registrar, Computershare and the Province. The OSB certificate must be
surrendered to the Registrar in person or by mail for re-registration into the name of the new
Registered Owner.
