Q. When are the interest rates for the new series of Ontario Savings Bonds announced?
A.

Q. When can Ontario Savings Bonds certificates be picked up from the financial institution in which they were purchased?
A.

OSB certificates are generally available for pick up from the financial institution in which they were purchased after the civic holiday in August, i.e., after August 5, 2008.

 
Q. Are Ontario Savings Bonds and Canada Savings Bonds the same?
A.

No. Ontario Savings Bonds and Canada Savings Bonds are not the same. OSBs are 100 per cent backed by the Provincial Government while CSBs are issued by the Federal Government.

 
Q. Are Ontario Savings Bonds insured by the Canadian Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC)?
A.

No. OSBs are not insured by CDIC. OSBs are backed 100% by the Province of Ontario.
