Secure

The Province of Ontario backs the money you invest 100 per cent, including both principal and interest. Only Ontario residents may purchase Ontario Savings Bonds.

Options

To best meet your investment needs, we offer three different types of Ontario Savings Bonds. All are available with annual or compound interest.

  • Step-Up - Annual interest rates increase from years one to five.
  • Variable-Rate - A new rate every six months for seven years.
  • Fixed-Rate - The same interest rate until maturity (Three year term).

Flexibility

You can redeem your Step-Up and Variable-Rate bonds every six months, on June 21 and December 21. All bond holders have an additional 14 days to cash their bonds. All bonds can be sold through an investment dealer or transferred to another person at any time.

RRSP and RESP Tax Benefits

All bonds can be held in your self-directed RRSP or RESP.

Affordable

Available in amounts from $100 to $500,000.

Convenient

Ontario Savings Bonds are available where you bank or invest. If you have 2002 Step-Up Bonds, 2000 Variable-Rate Bonds or 2004 Fixed-Rate Bonds, you can extend your benefits by exchanging them for 2007 Bonds.
